NARRATIVE:

On 02/19/2019 at approximately 2050hrs, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a video post on social media that referenced a possible shooting at a school.  The post originated from a student at LaPine Middle School and quickly spread throughout the community.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies spoke with several students regarding the post and one arrest has been made in this case.  This is still an ongoing investigation. 

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office recognizes the safety concerns that parents may have after an event of this nature.  There will be an increase in the law enforcement presence at the area schools. 

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office is a full service agency that oversees the adult jail, provides patrol, criminal investigations, civil process and search and rescue operations. Special units include SWAT, Marine Patrol, ATV Patrol, Forest Patrol, along with four K9 teams. Founded in 1916 and today lead by your duly elected Sheriff L. Shane Nelson, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office serves the nearly 190,000 residents in Deschutes County. The agency has 230 authorized and funded personnel, which includes 187 sworn employees who provide services to the 3,055 square miles of Deschutes County.
