Republic Services Billing Transition

Republic Services of Central Oregon is transitioning its Residential customers from monthly billing to EVERY OTHER MONTH BILLING.  Residential customers impacted by this change have received and will continue to receive communication from Republic Services about this transition.

Although customers making inquiries about these changes can contact they may contact the Regional Governmental Affairs Director, Courtney Voss, directly at (cvoss@republicservices.com or 215-909-0267).

What is changing?

Republic Services of Central Oregon is changing the frequency of billing for residential customers.  Currently, customers receive invoices each month.  Later this spring, customers will receive invoices every other month.

Who will be impacted by this change?

Republic Services residential customers ONLY.  This change does NOT apply to any customer group except for residential customers.

When will the change be implemented and what is the schedule?

BEND and LA PINE customers (including county customers) received or will receive invoices as follows:

  • January (Mailed end of January)
  • February (mailed end of February)
  • March (mailed end of March)
  • April – May (mailed end of April)
  • June – July (mailed end of June)
  • August – September (mailed end of August)
  • October – November (mailed end of October)
  • December – January (mailed end of December)

Can a customer elect to remain on monthly billing?

Customers who indicate that they have a financial hardship or who have concerns about the frequency of billing can contact Courtney Voss at cvoss@republicservices.com or 215-909-0267.  We will work with customers on a case-by-case basis to ensure customer satisfaction.  Because customer rates don’t fluctuate monthly (like they do with gas or electric, for example), customers are generally able to plan for and able to manage every other month billing without an issue.

When you switch to every other month billing, will you be invoicing/billing for one month of services rendered and one month of future services?

Yes.  The cadence of invoicing (one month behind and one month ahead) is a reasonable, fair and common approach. If a customer were to cancel services for a month for which they’ve already paid through their bi-monthly invoice, they would be reimbursed or credited back a prorated amount.  Instead of receiving a bill for a partial month of service after canceling, the customer will receive money back.

Why is Republic Services making this change?

Every other month billing is a standard billing cycle in our industry and throughout the state.  It will reduce the environmental impacts and costs associated with printing and mailing invoice statements.
